One of the always-reurgitated advice for new writers is: Read. Read everything. Read anything, even if the amount of interest you have for the given topic is zero. Well-meaning advice-givers do not understand why anyone would want to write a novel if they don’t also read novels.
Why create art in a medium that doesn’t interest you?
Bish, because I’m not interested in reading. I’m a creator. My days as a consumer are over.
But the people-pleaser I am, this project is a self-experiment in reading novels critically. So far, the journey has been eye-openingly disappointing. Most traditionally published novels do not hold up to the quality standards I would have thought they should have reached. They have so many issues. So many issues.
I’m here to tell you about those issues. I’m done with dishonest book reviewers and award ceremony circlejerks. Also, fuck Goodreads ratings.

Disclaimer
I’m likely to commit the same if not more severe crimes in my own creative writing, because honestly what do I know. I’m also not a native speaker of the English language — it’s your choice if you forgive me for the mistakes in my own reviews.
My point is:
Do as I say, not as I do.
